50s Vintage Black Brocade Peplum Jacket Skirt Suit

Rich jacquard fabric is one pleasure of this well-cut suit

The chic hourglass cut of this 1950s suit is certainly accentuated by its shoulder pads and peplum. The suit is made of a cotton and rayon brocade, with a stylized flower pattern. The jacket is lined in black taffeta, the skirt is not lined. The jacket’s long sleeves have split turn-back cuffs. There are tailored buttonholes and black plastic buttons with rhinestone centers. The straight skirt has a a side covered metal zipper and button at the waist. There is a back kick pleat.

Size: Jacket: bust = 38.5", waist = 30", back of neck to hem = 22.5", shoulder to shoulder = 15", outer sleeve length = 23.25"; Skirt: waist = 29", hip = 41", length = 28.5"

Condition: Very good, with no external flaws. At the inside back of the neckline, where one would expect to see a label, there are a number of light spots, like residual from an adhesive (click here to view). These are not visible on the outside of the jacket. There is also an inconspicuous small mend at the skirt’s front hem.
